2. Position Overview

A Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing the payroll process to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. This role involves handling sensitive employee data, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and maintaining payroll records. The Payroll Specialist will be the contact person between the Company and the Payroll provider and act as the point of contact for employees concerning payroll-related information.

3. What You’ll Do

  • Collect and verify payroll information that affects payroll calculations, including personal data, timesheet data, benefits, and tax deductions
  • Enter and maintain accurate payroll information into HRIS database and software programs, as needed
  • Ensure compliance with current local labour laws and regulations related to payroll
  • Provide any necessary information for the proper posting in the Company accounting records
  • Prepare any required and ad hoc reports as needed
  • Protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential and aligning with GDPR policy
  • Assist in building the budget and bonus calculation and payments

4. What We Are Looking For

Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a payroll role. Experience in the Shipping industry is an asset

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

 

Knowledge: Strong understanding of labour legislation and payroll tax laws

Professional skills:

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and payroll software programs
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
