A brief webinar on Ship-to-Ship (STS) Transfer developments for Bulk Carriers will be held in light of the fatal incident involving M/V Teal Bay at Kavkaz. Since 2022, discussions have been ongoing in international forums and with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) regarding the creation of new guidelines for STS operations on Bulk Carriers, spearheaded by INTERCARGO. RightShip has also introduced commercial requirements in the latest RISQ3.1, Chapter 17, including 10 specific questions related to STS operations.

The STS plan, a key requirement, must be supported by training, monitoring, compatibility assessments, location evaluations, and other related measures.

These new guidelines are expected to raise standards for STS operations, whether involving transloaders, barges, or direct transfers between Bulk Carriers.
