Green-Jakobsen – Workshop: Developing resilient safety cultures
10 June 2016 @ 11:00 - 13:00
Description of event:
In Green-Jakobsen we have gained first-hand knowledge about how to improve safety performance, first and foremost from the safety maturity assessments carried out over the last 6-7 years. The vast number of interviews we have made with seafarers and office staff have exposed the industry trends and the true picture of the safety standards and performance. The major challenge of the shipping companies is to convert the strong and weak points of the assessment into a tangible safety strategy, and how they should prioritise efforts to build a resilient safety culture. In this workshop we present a number of hypothesis which we discuss in groups. Conclusively we present methods, theories and tools to work with the challenges.
The workshop facilitator:
Erik Green has more than 20 years of experience as a strategic business consultant. His professional competence covers safety projects and marine HR, and he is continuously engaged in the development of Green-Jakobsen’s own leadership training concept, and safety maturity development concept and methods. Erik is a Naval Architect and has a master’s degree in organisational learning and development.

The workshop is for people in the maritime industry – seabased or shorebased – who are engaged in safety and crewing. It can also be juniors who have an interest in human behaviour and safety culture.
